Conservation Resources Inc. (CRI) has up to $433,500.00 from a grant from the Doris Duke Charitable Foundation available to re-grant to other non-profit members of RPWHP for land acquisition and habitat restoration projects that implement the RPWHP Grassland, and Forest and Riparian Conservation Plans.
funding goals
We anticipate awarding funding for several projects in order to reach our goals for these re-grant funds:
- secure the necessary agreements for and initiate restoration on 250-400 acres of land already permanently preserved and owned by public agencies and non-profit conservation organizations;
- restore between 100-250 acres of private lands; and
- insure the permanent preservation (a fee simple interest, a conservation easement or a leasehold interest) of at least two additional priority tracts which are critical for restoration purposes.
grant eligibility criteria
Eligibility for grant funding to help implement the three RPWHP Conservation Plans is limited to non-profit organizations whose mission includes the management of land. Additionally:
- Preference will be given to properties for restoration on permanently protected lands owned by public agencies or non-profit organizations; however, restoration projects on privately-owned lands may be considered if adequate provisions for long-term management are provided.
- Funds can be used for restoration projects and any costs associated with such projects including planning and items which are only partially reimbursable through existing public funding sources.
- Projects must be located on tracts that have been identified for conservation action in the three RPWHP Conservation Plans.
- The degree of leverage provided for Doris Duke Charitable Foundation funds by other private and public funding sources will be considered in grant awards.
- Grantees must demonstrate that there is an adequate mechanism (satisfactory to CRI) to fund the appropriate and long-term management of the restoration project for the benefit of the conservation targets.
- Projects must have a high likelihood of completion by December 2013.
