| PROJECT SIGNIFICANCE |
|
More than 40% of New Jersey’s endangered plant and animal species rely on wetlands at some point in their life cycle, and the restoration of this site will help provide these species with habitat that is increasingly at risk due to human encroachment and urban development.
Protection of this tract will also help improve downstream water quality, enhance aesthetic values and provide recreational access to the Musconetcong River that nature enthusiasts can enjoy.

Twenty acres of shallow water wetlands will be constructed using shallow excavation and small earthen berms and 35 acres of warm season grasses will be planted to provide for migratory and breeding needs of waterfowl and neotropical migrants. |
